Thunder @ Wolverhampton Civic Hall.

Thunder at Wolverhampton Civic Hall - Gig number 201.
Shaz's 40th birthday and we managed to find a gig and if you need a band for a party Thunder would be pretty close to the top of the list.

Lauren Harris was the support. She now looks like she is starting to relax a bit on stage and with her foot on the monitor looked a bit like her dad!! 3 new songs played including a ballad which means her debut cd out early next year should be good. Natural Thing (UFO)and Steal your Fire (Gun) swapped places in the set for the start and finish. Her band were excellent as always and Shaz got a plectrum from the bass player, so happy with that.

The crowd were not overly loud for her although it did improve as the set went on. After the Pompey gig we thought "not another s***e crowd !"How wrong we were. The venue has a flat floor with a balcony all the way round and as Thunder started the crowd, which was now pretty full, erupted. The band were in full flow from the word go with Danny Bowes in fine form. He said clap we clapped, he said jump up and down - you know the score.

Started with Dirty Dream off the last cd and then Last Man Standing before we welcomed back Higher Ground.Fab! I'll be Waiting gave Danny the chance to air his vocals. When you see the rubbish in the charts or on tv these days this man has so much soul and passion. A joy.
The Devil Made Me Do It and the title track of the last cd flowed into River of Pain (a fav of mine I have to say) Flawed to Perfection then made a welcome return before a stunning Danny vocal on Like A Satellite.

The new song Chain Reaction went down well before the last 3 of Backstreet Symphony,Love Walked in and Can't keep a Good Man Down finished the set fantastically.

During the last song half the lighting rig went off so the band played to one side!!For the encores Danny said at least they could save some money on the lighting wages as by now only the spotlights remained!!! He ran round with a small torch during the solo's. Spin Doctor followed by Better Man with Harry on geetar and vox at the end singing "I see a Balder Man" went down a storm before I Love You More Than Rock n'Roll finished the night on a high.

I can't say if I have ever seen them better the sound was loud but very clear the lighting great till it all went off!!!!!10/10.

We had managed to get Meet and Greet passes but after waiting for around 45 mins we were told they would be at least another 45 mins. With a 2 and a half hour journey home we decided to make our way home giving the passes to 2 people outside.

So after 22 gigs in the calendar year that is it for 2007. Best one? h'mmmm Metallica at Wembley was pretty special as was seeing Tesla twice in 4 months after 16 years. And Thunder here and in the monsoon at Chepstow were fab.So ...................Metallica!!!!!

Roll on 2008 Queensryche in June at the O2 Indigo and then Iron Maiden at Twickenham at the mo.Can I last till June?
