Tokyo Dragons - Bradford Gas Works 21st March

Another new venue, basically it’s a basement bar with a stage at one end. Only £3 in (before 10:00) for 3 bands can’t be bad, and the beer at £2.40p wasn’t over priced.

If I did have complaint it was that all started a bit late, with the first band Big Linda not starting until 9:45. A very brief set from them, which incorporated this echo microphone, quirky but effective, enjoyable. At the end of the set they gave away a four track CD.

Next up were Gentleman’s Pistols, again another good set of songs, they support the Tygers of Pan Tang at the same venue next month so something to look forward to.

On to the main event, Tokyo Dragons. It’s gone past 11:00 o’clock when they hit the stage. They raced through a set of songs from their two CDs. The set finished at gone midnight. It was okay, but most of the punters didn’t seem over interested in the bands on the stage. More interested in the club/pub atmosphere.

I’m not sure if the short sets and late running is standard for the venue. I will see next month.

Perhaps I’m getting old.
