Black Country Communion – Michael Schenker – Leeds Academy 26 July 2011

Another night another version of MSG, it’s great to Michael Shenker on stage playing guitar. The show tonight features some MSG classics some new stuff, some Scorpions and of course some UFO, when Pete Way joins the band on stage. An all to brief 45 minutes ended with Doctor, Doctor. I must just mention the multi talented Michael Voss who I became aware of through his Silver project. He did a great job fronting the band with good vocals and it was pleasure to see him live and finally thanks to both Michaels, Voss and Schenker, for signing the CD sleeves.
I’m the only one at Rockgig who’d not seen Black Country Communion was all the hype true; would it be worth the wait? Well in one simple word – YES. This is what rock n roll is all about Glenn Hughes was like the king of the castle strutting his stuff all around the stage, Joe Bonamassa played the role of guitar god with ease, Jason Bonham drove every song with energy and purpose and Derek Sherinan’s keyboards gave the songs depth. I loved it all and when they finished the final song Burn I would have loved to have seen another hour and a half, but that would just have been greedy. How long this band will continue is anyone’s guess but if you like rock music you would love this show.
