Magnum – Holmfirth Picturedrome – 23 November 2012

Tonight’s support came from Trillium; unfortunately I missed the first couple of songs of their set. Trillium are fronted by the wonderful Amanda Somerville, what a powerful voice. I really enjoyed the set and will be looking out for them in the future.

As always Magnum delivered a thoroughly brilliant show, quickly overcoming some sound problems on the opener All the Dreamers. The set features a good number of songs from Magnums more recent material including a great rendition of Brand New Morning. There were of course classics like How Far Jerusalem, Vigilante, All England’s Eyes, and the breath taking Les Morts Dansant. The set was broken up by The Spirit with every word being song by the faithful disciples gathered here tonight.

The Main set was brought to a close with Kingdom of Madness before the band came back to give us See How They Fall, from the current On the 13th Day CD, Rocking Chair and finally Days of No Trust.

I’d clapped, swayed and sung through the whole evening, and hope it’s not too long before Magnum are back in town.

The Picturedrome yet again proved itself to be the best music venue in West Yorkshire, and with it serving great Timothy Taylor’s beer it certainly is a match made in heaven.
