Halestorm Oxford Academy 07-03-13.

First up was Sacred Mother Tongue who's Megadeth style thrash went down well.
Guitarist Andy James was equally happy riffing or shredding and with a new cd "Out Of The Darkness"due out in April and a slot on the main stage at Download one to look out for.

Next up was In This Moment who's 40 minute set was preceeded by a platform being built at the front of the stage with skulls to either side. This gave vocalist Maria Brinks who came out barely clothed and then posed through a succession of dirge ridden music that did nothing for me.She changed hats for every song and for the start of one stood and posed behind a sheet very Lady Gaga!!Didn't think I would ever mention that name in these pages!!
The band were barely visible behind low level lighting and too much dry ice too.
The crowd loved it I didn't!!

No such problem for Halestorm who have the world at their feet. After their recent Grammy award and 2 hit cd's this could be the last time seeing them in a club as arenas and stadiums await.
Over the course of 70 minutes they again hit the heights that few bands can even begin to dream of!
Here is what they played.
Freak Like Me
Love Bites(so do I)
You Call Me A Bitch Like It's A Bad Thing
Dirty Work
Straight Through The Heart(Dio cover)
Innocence
Rock Show
Break In
Familiar Taste Of Poison
Daughters Of Darkness
Mz Hyde
Dissident Aggressor(Judas Priest cover)
It's Not You
I Get Off
Encores of Here's To Us
I Miss The Misery

I have championed the band on these pages since the release of last years glorious "A Strange Case Of"cd and nothing changes Lzzy Hale has the world at her feet.

Her stage presence has blossomed and her voice is just perfect.During her lone performance of "Break In"if the hairs on your neck don't stand to attention check your pulse.Stunning.

The crowd went mad the band had a ball just like all great gigs.

Words sometimes aren't enough!
