Snakecharmer The Brook Southampton 15-11-13

First up was actually no one as there was no support which was a real shame as I'm sure a young band would have loved playing to a near full house at this great venue.

So eventually to the main act and for 95 minutes we were treated to a combination of new, with songs off the excellent Snakecharmer debut cd and of course old, with Whitesnake classics thrown in for good measure.

Here is what they played
Guilty As Charged
A Little Rock And Roll
Ready And Willing
Cover Me In You
My Angel
Accident Prone
Falling Leaves
Walking In The Shadow Of The Blues
Smoking Gun
Nothin' To Lose
Moody's Blues
Slow And Easy
Here I Go Again
Take Me With You
Encore of
Fool For Your Loving

Led by Whitesnake partners Mickey Moody on guitar and Neil Murray on bass the rest of the band aren't shabby either.

Harry James from Thunder and Magnum is on drums,Laurie Wisefield from Wishbone Ash is on guitar,Adam Wakeman from Ozzy Osbourne's band and son of Rick  is on keyboards and Chris Ousey from Virginia Wolf and Heartland is on vocals.

A real class act wherever you look.

Great to see Chris Ousey at last playing live with his superb Paul Rodgers style vocals and in fact with his vest top and mike twirling you can see who his idol is.

The newer material fits in well with the classics with its bluesy undertones a feature. My favourites included " Falling Leaves"  with an excellent extended always melodic solo from Wisefield ," Accident Prone "'s twin lead solos, the radio rock opener of " Guilty As Charged " and " Smoking Gun " with Micky's slide solo a highlight along with Adam's Hammond organ feature.

Of course the Whitesnake material gets the largest applause with "Ready And Willing" having an extended almost funky jam in the middle of it.

A real hard hitting " Walking In The Shadows " again had audience voices at breaking point and Mickey played an extended slide solo as an intro to a evening highlight " Slow And Easy "  and following it with "Here I Go Again " was superb.

Last song of the set was an extended " Take Me With You " which had each member of the band having a solo work out before they came back for " Fool For Your Loving " leaving everyone with a huge grin from ear to ear.

Great night out and I look forward to album number 2.
