Black Star Riders and Europe Leeds Academy 8 March 2015
The double headliner status of the show tonight meant that
both group had shorter set times than you would expect to see on their own
headlining tour.
This seemed to really suit Black Star Riders as they raced
through their pacey set which had 10 songs from their own CDs and 6 Thin Lizzy
covers cleverly placed in the set.
Ricky Warwick is a great front man for the twin guitar
attack of Damon Johnson and Scott Gorham. Opening up with Bound for Glory the
band were well received, second but the cheers were taken up another notch when
the rift for Jailbreak started. The pace of the set was driven on throughout by
the back line of Robbie Crane and Jimmy Degrasso. The set was brought to
fantastic climax with Rosalie, The Killer Instinct and Whiskey in the Jar. A
great set and hope it’s not too long until I can see them again.
