Dogs D’Amour – Faringdon Junior School

Now here’s something to think about, how often have you seen a real encore? By that I mean something made up there and then and not pre-written on the set list. I can’t think of many, anyway more of that later.

Four bands for a fiver can’t be a bad deal. Three local support bands, Diablo 13, Zen Pigs (great singer) & Pistol Kixx, and the main attraction, Tyla and the Dogs.

The Dogs certainly didn’t disappoint racing through good greatest hits package which had the crowd dancing and singing along in the slightly surreal surroundings of Faringdon Junior (The Elms) school hall.

Now that encore, after a brief chat the riff for Get It On kicks in, (you can’t go far wrong with a bit of Marc in my view). It all looks a bit shaky, but works. As the song ends the guitarist and bass player are given permission to leave, leaving just Tyla and the drummer banging out the rift and having a bit of a sing along with crowd. Then the drummer is given his leave. Tyla drags the microphone to the edge of the stage playing the riff, says a big thank you then disappears off stage left with the riff still going, 30 seconds or so later the song and the set ends. Brilliant, one of the simplest but best endings I’ve seen to a show.

Met the guitarist afterwards who confirmed my suspicions that it was all made up on spec. Great fun.
