Wishbone Ash & The Hamsters - Holmfirth 17th Oct

This was a bit a of dream ticket for me, I’d wanted to see the Andy Powell version of Wishbone Ash again, and had heard so much about The Hamsters from friends that I’d wanted to catch them as well.

The Hamsters did not disappoint, for those not in the know they do their own blues stuff plus Hendrix and ZZ Top covers, a top class set ended with ZZ Top’s Sharp Dressed Man which culminated in the Bass player and Guitarist/Vocalist wondering round the audience during the solo when they met in the middle of the hall they swapped instruments, continuing to play they made their way back on stage, once on stage the guitarist who now is playing bass, passes the bass to the drummer who takes over on bass. All this is done without a break in the solos. Great entertainment! Keep an eye out for them appearing near you. If they do you must go and see them.

Wishbone Ash didn’t disappoint, a sparkling rendition off all the hits and more, highlights for me being “Hard Times, You See Red and Phoenix.

Great venue, great beer, great music, great value (£17.50) what more could a man want?
