Guitarist Ronnie Montrose dies aged 64

We're sad to hear that guitarist Ronnie Montrose has died aged 64.  It is believed that the cause of death was related to the prostate cancer that Ronnie has been battling for several years.  Ronnie was best known for being the guitarist and founding member of Montrose, which featured Sammy Hagar on vocals.

Personally Ronnie is remembered very fondly here at Rockgig. We drove  every year to Donington - Monsters of rock, and it became a ritual to put on the first Montrose album as we neared the race track, singing along and getting in the party mood.  Our condolences go to his family and friends.
