Touchstone Live Inside Outside

Further to the release of their fourth studio album, Oceans Of Time which entered the official UK Rock chart at No.24 in autumn 2013, British progressive rock quintet Touchstone are proud to announce the release of their first official live DVD: Touchstone - Live Inside Outside (3 Disc DVD/CD Edition)
The DVD features previously unreleased footage of Touchstone's full set from 2010's High Voltage Festival in London's Victoria Park, as well as the entire set from the last date of the Ocean's Of Time 2013 launch tour at Bilston's Robin 2 venue. Filmed, directed, edited and mixed by Magenta’s Rob Reed, this set features tracks from Oceans Of Time including Contact and Fragments, as well as older classics and crowd favourites such as Corridors and Strange Days.
Other additions to the DVD include a behind the scenes 'making of' documentary, which follows the entire creation of Oceans Of Time, from the initial writing sessions to rehearsing and studio recording sessions.
This 3 Disc DVD/CD edition set includes an audio CD soundtrack of the Bilston show, mixed by Rob Reed, with packaging and artwork illustrated and designed by Adam Hodgson.
The first 500 copies of the DVD will also ship with 1 of 500 Limited Edition signed copies of the Oceans EP, which contains a brand new song 'Suffer The Little Children', plus 4 other previously unreleased tracks.
As a Touchstone fan it doesn't get better than this with the follow up to 2010's Live In The USA 2 cd set.
A documentation of the band's last cd with the live Bilston show showcasing 8 songs from the "Oceans Of Time " release from last year.
Led by the soaring vocals of Kim Sevior the more hard rock leanings from " Oceans Of Time " come across well in the live setting. That's not to say the bands progressive style has taken a complete back seat it hasn't and there are still time changes a plenty .
The band do play the songs very similar to the cd with very little added in the live setting but that isn't to say the musicianship is not top notch. The rhythm section of Paul Moo Moorghen on bass and Henry Rogers on drums are very impressive really driving the music on with plenty of fills from Rogers. Adam Hodgson on guitar riffs away and when he does solo it does come with a melodic leaning. At the back Rob Cottingham on keys adds to the musical landscape and adds some good backing vocals and seems to have cut back on solo vocals leaving it to Kim which on my part is the right choice.
The Bilston show does suffer a little as a lot of live dvd's do that are filmed in smaller venues with some lighting issues. You can barely see the crowd apart from the front row so you don't get a sense of how much they are enjoying it.
The outside show at High Voltage in 2010 rocks along and with quite a bit of crowd participation. In fact the last song on this disc has a special guest in the shape of John Mitchell of It Bites who plays a ripping guitar solo on a cover of Tears For Fears " Mad World " and the band really seem to loosen up during this song which in future I would love to see more of.
The audio disc of the Bilston show is a good bonus to have with the bands hard rock style on the cd to the fore.
The Oceans EP has 4 early demo versions for the " Oceans Of Time " cd which is always interesting to see the songs develop, and one new song too in the shape of " Suffer The Little Children ".
A great value release for all fans of the band.
