Falling Red Lost Souls cd review

Falling Red's new album Lost Souls the band's third is released on Friday March the 16th via Cargo Records.

After hearing first single My Town My City which is an acoustic ballad with a great chorus and vocals from Andrew Roze on listening to the whole album it show's a great diversity that will appeal immensely to any rock fan with heavy rockers that always have melodic choruses that beg to be sang crowd's world wide.

The band used James Stephenson at Stymphalian Productions in York who has worked with Alestorm and he has done fantastic job producing and mixing with the melodic stylings on the choruses moulding well with the heaviness of the guitar's of Andrew and Shane Kirk  along side the rhythm team of Mikey Lawless on bass and Dave Sanders on drums.

Critic's and fan's alike love to pigeon hole band's and seeing the band have toured with Ugly Kid Joe,Steel Panther and Seb Bach I can see that and I get a Crazy Lixx vibe which is no bad thing seeing how they are going from strength to strength but on each play it sink's deeper into your soul that many band's can only dream about.

The Day I Lost My Soul sets the pace from the off with a whoa whoa refrain on the chorus as the band leave their mark with time changes and drums crack alongside big guitar riff's and a just so melodic guitar solo and that huge chorus built for the live show.

Digital Disguise is a double bass drum heavy guitar riffing onslaught that slows in the chorus to remind us that it is still about the tune and a mid song slow down show's great pacing and light and shade before crashing back in with a melodic guitar solo that continues along side the vocal's in the outro.A live favourite for sure.

Alive sees a held guitar note riff that builds into a crushingly heavy chorus with Andrew pleading Are you Alive or are you dead behind the eyes?Love it.

Dead is a 3 minute stomper with Crazy Lixx attitude all over it and another great chorus.

Hell In My Eyes starts on a bass and drum rhythm moulding with Andrew's vocal before exploding on the great chorus as the guitar's kick in and the pace goes up again and you can imagine horn's and fist's heading to the sky joining Andrew on the chorus.

War In The Sky sees the double bass drum back with a vengeance with a heavy guitar riff that adapts mid song and the melodic undertone on the guitar's still evident before a mid song thrash attack.

Enemies sees a stop start guitar riff that goes into full on chugging mode before a great chorus that says who needs enemies when I have friends like you?We all know that one!!
Another great guitar solo too.

Beautiful Lie is the second ballad on the album giving Andrew a chance to show off his full range and tone and just when you think it's just him and an acoustic the band kick in for the last minute or so moulding some heaviness into the melody.

Haunted is a 3 minute romp with a huge gang backing vocal as part of the chorus.

In My Head has more gang backing vocals on the chorus with time changes a plenty before A Song For The Haters ends the album with a 2 minute middle finger to the masses with heavy riffing and big chorus with a song for you do you think I care refrain. No we don't.

There is so much to enjoy about this album and for anyone with a love for rock music with melody and heavy riffs and who doesn't care about what genre it is.

Embrace it enjoy it for what it is a bloody good album.
